As we cross over the railroad tracks, US 222/unsigned PA 272 will turn right.

Location: Duke St and McGovern Ave, Lancaster

Turn right on 222/272 south to jog a couple blocks west to connect into the downtown Lancaster street grid.

Location: McGovern Ave and Duke St, Lancaster

Reassurance shield after the turn. 222 north does not follow McGovern – it stayed straight northbound on Liberty directly onto Duke.

Location: McGovern Ave and Queen St, Lancaster

At Queen Street, traffic from PA 72 north briefly joins 222/272 south. There is no legal turn onto 72 south from here, however. 72 follows Queen Street through downtown sandwiched between the two 222 directions.

Location: McGovern Ave and Prince St, Lancaster

A block later, turn right for 72 out of town and left for 222/272 south.

Location: McGovern Ave and Prince St, Lancaster

Follow 222/272 south into downtown Lancaster. 72 north follows Manheim Pike.

Location: McGovern Ave and Prince St, Lancaster

Turn right for 72 north to Manheim and Lebanon. Turn left for 222 (and 272) south into downtown Lancaster. In following the Amarillo precedent, for purposes of this site we’ll list 72 below as if it is concurrent with 222/272 even though it is sandwiched between the two directions.
