As we enter the Granite State, NH Route 236 begins along with the continuation of Route 9. A few blocks after the state line, the two blocks split, with 236 heading towards Route 16 north and Rochester and 9 west heading into Dover. This is not a direct continuation of Maine 236, only because Maine does not co-sign their 236 over Route 9 for the few blocks to the state line for whatever reason.
