General Info

State Route 3 is a primary north-south highway located in Mason and Kitsap Counties.

It passes through the following cities/towns:

  • Shelton (southern terminus)
  • Allyn
  • Belfair
  • Bremerton
  • Silverdale
  • Poulsbo
  • Port Gamble (northern terminus)

It is 59.31 miles long. The first 34.77 miles consist of standard 2 lane surface road, until the junction with SR 16 at MP 34.77 where it turns into a limited-access expressway. 18.7 miles later, at the junction with SR 305 at MP 53.47, the road returns to a two lane surface road, before continuing to a stoplight at its northern terminus at SR 104.

Legal Definition (RCW 47.17.010):

A state highway to be known as state route number 3 is established as follows:

Beginning at a junction with state route number 101 at Shelton, thence northeasterly to a junction with state route number 302 at Allyn; also

From that junction with state route number 302 at Allyn, thence northeasterly to a junction with state route number 106 in the vicinity of Belfair; also

From that junction with state route number 106 in the vicinity of Belfair, thence northeasterly by the most feasible route to Bremerton, thence northerly and easterly by the most feasible route in the vicinity of Poulsbo to a junction with state route number 104 in the vicinity of Port Gamble.
