No reassurance shield as the route begins. The brown sign suggests that this used to be a forest service road. Anyway, it’s a 19 mile gravel spur to South Dakota. Believe it or not, this is the beginning of a multi state highway that continues as SD 20 and MN 40, eventually ending nearly as unfortunately as it starts, dying at a county road at the city limits of Willmar, Minnesota. This might be the 3+ state route with the worst termini in the country.

The road ends here at the South Dakota line. Turn left for SD 20, which really does start as a dirt road along the state line. The street blade looks like an SDDOT installation. Pavement begins in Camp Crook, SD, which isn’t too far from here.
