Reassurance shield after Simco Rd. Idaho is great in that it signs all routes after every interchange. Washington, when a US route is on the freeway, will occasionally lackadaisically post the US route sign after some interchanges

Rare overhead reassurance shield after Orchard St. It has been fun watching this one evolve 1.5 miles to Vista Ave and the airport.

Location: I-84 and Vista Ave, Boise

At the Vista Avenue interchange, we’re 1.5 miles from Broadway Avenue, which is US 20/26 west.

Exit for Broadway Ave/US 20/26 west. 20/26 east joins I-84/30 east, but that’s not signed here for some reason.

Reassurance shield, now with US 30. The old one oddly forgot it.

(Historic Photo: December 2007)

Location: I-84 and I-184, Boise

Interstate 184 is an unfortunate left exit. The interchange is locally known as the Flying Wye and they have never really finished making it work efficiently

(Historic Photo: May 2014)

Location: I-84 and I-184, Boise

I-184 (in connection with a small part of US-20/26) is locally known as “The Connector” as it connects I-84 to downtown Boise.

(Historic Photo: December 2007)

Location: I-84 and I-184, Boise

This is an odd sign. Franklin road is NOT Interstate 184. It should say “Franklin Road use I-184″ or I-184 TO Franklin Rd

(Historic Photo: December 2007)

BGS at the split. A better idea would be to just drop the I-184 shield over Franklin Rd. It has no real purpose

Not to worry though, it is exiting really soon, so my guess is that it was intentionally left off

ID-55 will exit in one mile. It heads north through my hometown of McCall to a junciton with US-95 in New Meadows. Possibly the most beautiful 100 mile drive in the country.

Idaho is one of the only states to sign state highways along the interstate, and possibly the only to give equal sign size to both. It’s fantastic.

Location: I-84 and Ten Mile Rd, Ada County

A few miles later, we’ll enter Ada County. Two miles to the recently built Ten Mile Rd interchange, 4.5 miles to SH-69, 6 miles to SH-55.

Location: I-84 and Ten Mile Rd, Ada Cty

After Ten Mile Rd, we’re a mile to SH-69 and 2.75 miles from SH-55.

ID-69 will exit in one mile. 69 is a spur that heads south and terminates in Kuna

Location: I-84 and Meridian Rd, Meridian

As we enter Meridian, we’ll get a random sort of delayed reassurance shield well after the Ten Mile Rd interchange.
