Idaho

In 2013 and 2014, I worked to drive the Idaho state highway system while living in Montana. This was a sort of odd occurrence, because I lived in Idaho from 1997-2006, summers 2007-2010 through college, and then again from 2016 to 2021. Idaho will always be home to me – and I enjoyed driving the state highway system. It’s a small one for such a large state, because much of Idaho is entirely untouched wilderness. The highway system provides a good primer for what the state has to offer, but really just scratches the surface of the beauty of the Gem State. I’m writing this in 2023, realizing that I never wrote a “wrap-up” for Idaho – and I can say I miss it. I don’t want to move back, and life has treated me incredibly well since leaving, but I miss it. U.S. 95 and Idaho 55 are the roads I’m probably closest to – having lived in McCall for many years, and those are some of the best in the entire state.
