Reassurance shield as CT 156 begins. 156 is a weird route – heading first as a north-south highway down to the coast and then serving as a coastal route up to New London where US 1 heads further inland.

Shortly after that, we’ll approach US 1 right by I-95. US 1 north connects to I-95 north, so follow that for East Lyme and New London. 1 south joins 156 west for a few feet – and the 1 goes to Old Saybrook while 156 goes to Old Lyme center and various shore points.
