The road continues as Forest Highway 7, and becomes SR 162 again near Covelo. NF-7 is paved most of the way to Alder Springs but is then unpaved over the pass. It’s a decent road – I did it in a rental Ford Fusion Hybrid with no issues (aside from being nervous about having no spare tire) -but not a high speed road at all.
