US-89 doesn&#8217;t spend very much time in Idaho and is mainly a scenic route serving the Bear Lake area. After Montpelier it will acquire Idaho-Scenic brown shields<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/id\/89\/wyto61\/2.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Location<\/strong>: US-89 at Wyoming State Line, Bear Lake Cty<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Sometimes signage standards bleed over from state to state. These brown signs encouraging us to follow a certain route with the shield printed on in all caps are very common in Wyoming, but I&#8217;ve never seen one in Idaho besides right here.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/id\/89\/wyto61\/3.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Location<\/strong>: US-89 and SH-61, Bear Lake Cty<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Just after entering Idaho we come to a junction with State Highway 61.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/id\/89\/wyto61\/4.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"805\" height=\"494\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Location<\/strong>: US-89 and SH-61, Bear Lake Cty<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We&#8217;ll turn left up here for SH-61<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/id\/89\/wyto61\/5new.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"772\" height=\"549\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Location<\/strong>: US-89 and SH-61, Bear Lake Cty<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>(Historic Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/id\/89\/wyto61\/5.JPG\">May 2009<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Turn left to follow SH-61 towards Cokeville and Kemmerer Wyoming via Wyoming 89. \u00a0Wyoming State Highway 89 as the fastest route to Salt Lake, but Idaho seems to want traffic to follow US-89, directing traffic to follow US-89 towards Salt Lake. The WYO 89 Corridor (SH-61 to WYO 89 to Utah SR-30 to Utah SR-16 to WYO 89 to I-80) is probably the fastest, but this seems to be indicative of the long standing feud over the correct routing of Highway 89 through this region.
