We&#8217;re along the recently decommissioned Sterling-Atwood-Merino-Hilldale-Brush-Fort Morgan business loop that was insanely long and also pointless.\u00a0 As we head out of Sterling, the road widens to a pre I-76 divided highway that carries US-6 to Atwood<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/co\/6\/14to63\/6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"579\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Location<\/strong>: US-6 and Chambers Dr, Logan Cty<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">As we head out of Sterling we&#8217;re told that following US-6 to SH-63 is a perfectly logical way to get to I-76 West. There is access to I-76 east from Atwood, but faster at this point to turn around and go back through Sterling<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/co\/6\/14to63\/7new.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"996\" height=\"547\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>(Historic Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/co\/6\/14to63\/7.jpg\">April 2010<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Location<\/strong>: Front Ave and 7th St, Atwood<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Several miles later we&#8217;ll enter Atwood and the divided highway will end. The road stays at 4 lanes, however.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/co\/6\/14to63\/8.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Location<\/strong>: Front St and SH-63, Atwood<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We&#8217;ll approach a junction with SH-63<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/co\/6\/14to63\/9.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Location<\/strong>: Front St and SH-63, Atwood<br \/>\nFollow SH-63 South to get to I-76 West. You can also get to I-76 East, but given the quality of US-6 and the fact that it&#8217;s a couple miles to the interstate, it&#8217;s probably still faster to drive back to Sterling<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/co\/6\/14to63\/10.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Location<\/strong>: Front St and SH-63, Atwood<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Turn left for SH-63, which heads to I-76 and Akron<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/generic\/us6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"70\" height=\"70\" \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/?p=9911731\">W to I-76\/US-34 Spur<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/?p=9911729\">E to US-138<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/generic\/colorado63.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"69\" height=\"70\" \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/?p=9922623\">S to I-76<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/highways\/generic\/colorado14.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"69\" height=\"70\" \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corcohighways.org\/?p=991736\">W to SH-71<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Driven January 2021 Location: Division Ave and Main St, Sterling No reassurance shield after the SH-14 split.
