S-509 begins here, on the east edge of the Red Rocks National Wildlife Refuge. It’s a 37 1\/2 mile trek down a washboarded dirt road from here to Monida.<\/p>\n

This is a pretty desolate road, so desolate that I saw my first moose while driving.<\/p>\n

A few miles later, we’ll enter the former ghost town of Lakeview which is now a University of Utah Extension Campus, the Taft-Nicholson Center for Environmental Humanities Education<\/p>\n

27 desolate miles later, we’ll approach I-15. Stay straight for I-15 as we pass by the town of Monida.<\/p>\n

Turn right for I-15 north, keep left for I-15 south.<\/p>\n

Follow I-15 north to Butte and I-15 south to Idaho Falls.<\/p>\n
