{"id":9922,"date":"2007-05-03T00:19:32","date_gmt":"2007-05-03T07:19:32","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2008-12-13T18:54:38","modified_gmt":"2008-12-14T01:54:38","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/corcohighways.org\/?page_id=9922","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What is Washington Highways.org?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Washingtonhighways.org is a website created by David J Corcoran that attempts to educate people about highways in the great state of Washington.<\/p>\n<p>It has one key component:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drive and take photographs of every mile of current state highway in the state of Washington<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is no set timetable, only that I will put maximum time into this until completed and as resources allow.<\/p>\n<p>At one point I was planning to add in a whole bunch of historical information, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.angelfire.com\/wa2\/hwysofwastate\/\">Mark Bozanich<\/a> has already done an incredible job of covering that, and there&#8217;s just not a lot I could add. So rather than repeating what he has already said, I will gladly point any and everyone to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.angelfire.com\/wa2\/hwysofwastate\/\">his site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why are you doing this? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have a great desire to explore the open road. A few years ago, I entered the state of Washington with my parents for the first time, in a drive to Seattle. I noticed that the two digit highways seemed to have branches that started with the same two digits, and the pattern was apparent. I&#8217;d never seen such a coherent system. Washington is also full of beautiful terrain, from Clarkston to Bellingham, Metaline Falls to Vancouver, and everything in between. I loved to drive. It seemed like a logical way to spend my time. I decided that this is something I should do.  So I began, and I haven&#8217;t regretted a second of it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is a rough timetable for completion?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>December 2008.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So&#8230;any sources to thank?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First and foremost, I&#8217;d like to thank WSDOT. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.srview.wsdot.wa.gov\/srweb\/srweb.htm\">SRWeb<\/a> is the man.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of basic historical information is coming from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.angelfire.com\/wa2\/hwysofwastate\/\">Mapper&#8217;s Musings<\/a>, and I thank him a ton for all his information.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newworldmaps.com\/\"> New World Maps<\/a> of Florida has hooked me up with a ton of old maps, and that helps a lot with old alignments, numbering, etc.<\/p>\n<p>All pictures are original, (C) David J Corcoran photographs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is Washington Highways.org?
