Location: US-95 at the Oregon Line, Owyhee Cty

Welcome to Idaho! US 95 spends more time in Idaho than in any other state, heading all the way to the north end of Idaho at the British Columbia line. It is impossible to drive from here to Lewiston and remain in Idaho and avoid US 95, even by using forest service roads.

First reassurance shield after the border. We’re 33 miles from Homedale.

Reassurance shield a few miles later. The stretch from here to SH-55 is probably the most desolate on the entire trek in Idaho.

Turn left for 95 north and right for 55 north. 55 serves as a functional US 95 Alternate, heading towards Boise and then along the east side of the west mountains, rejoining US 95 in about 150 miles. 95 is the faster route, but 55 is more interesting.
