A quarter mile after the CT 8 south ramp, an oddity occurs. State maintenance of SR 714 ends about right here where the rumble strip in the center line ends. The road continues as SR 714, but under town maintenance – making this the only town maintained State Road in CT – which is an odd distinction since the state roads are not signed.
